MORRELL NUT & BERRY FARM

If you ever find yourself in the Santa Ynez Valley (about 20 some miles inland from Santa Barbara) and have had enough wine tasting, okay maybe between wineries, make a stop at the Morrell Nut & Berry Farm. If you're lucky enough to find yourself there on a beautiful summer day as we did, please stop and pick the berries. Such a great activity for all. Originally it was somewhere I really wanted to go, and my seven year old daughter loved the idea. So out we went, my husband and I with our two daughters, two grandmas, and one aunt. Everyone truly enjoyed it,and there's only so many times you can "lunch" at the wineries. See what we had for dessert that evening.

A FOOD STYLIST & PHOTOGRAPHER I AM NOT...

but it tasted amazing!!! I put our Sugared Lemon Spread over some freshly picked blackberries, then topped it with some crushed marcona almonds; the result was a wonderfully refreshing summer dessert. The almonds (or nut of your choice) finished it oh so nicely. Next time I am going to try it with crushed pistachios.

Going to take break from cooking for the next few weeks, we will be traveling around California seeing family and friends. We will also be visiting as many interesting food venues in our travels. We'd love for you to follow us and please send any recommendations for places we should check out in San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Santa Ynez Valley, & Los Angeles.

Picnic is officially under way. Last weekend we participated in the DC Grey Market, it was a great turn out and we had an amazing response to our products. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported Picnic and all our new vendor friends.
